ANNUAL CLUB LUNCHEON & PRIZE-GIVING: Riverside
@
Woodbridge. This is a delightful little café next to
the National Trust?s
Woodbridge House in the suburb of the same name and right
on the
Swan River. Follow the signs: go off the highway down Ford
Street,
meet there at 11.30am and have a stroll around the grounds
and out
on the jetty. Do a spot of fishing? On hearing the noonday
gun we
retire to the adjacent café for lunch: a special 2
course set menu for
$28/head. You may like to order and pay for sweets after.
The café
has a BYO licence (just $1/bottle for us) or buy your soft
drinks,
juices etc there. After the luncheon and prize giving you
may like to
take a tour around the historic house; cost is $5/person.
Contact the
Events Officer to join us: 9294 1259, 0438915832, or
ned.morris@hotmail.com by 20/8/11. See menu details later
inside
then phone me now if you have not booked. So far we have:
Morris
1, Creed 2, Frean 2, Runciman 2, Gillbanks 2, Higgins 2, Picton-
Warlow 2, Withers 1, Palmer 2, Bono 2, Botica 2, Hocking 2,
Gilbert
2, Axford 2 = 27. Correct? Mileages are required for entry
for the
perpetual trophy for the Rileys that covered the longest distance
in the year. |

CHITTERING VALLEY PIE CHASE: Spring will have
sprung and
Karin & John Lambie have come up with a run through this
delightful
area featuring the famous Bindoon Bakery and its delicious
pies. The
(MG) TC Owner?s Club and the Pre-war Sports Car Club will
also be
coming along. We meet at 10am at Bullsbrook; coming from the
south, drive through the little town and turn right into Chittering
Road,
turn right immediately and meet at the little park. There
is a public
toilet there. We depart at 10.30am up Chittering Road to the
Lambie?s Marbling Brook Farm at 1724 Chittering Road. It?s
on the
right hand side, not far past the Chittering Valley Road intersection,
10.8 miles (17.24 km) from Bullsbrook. Park in “the
paddock”. There
will be too many for café Lambie so if you want a coffee
or tea bring a
thermos or grab one at Muzz-Buzz back in Bullsbrook. After
a natter
we leave in convoy at 11.45am, off to the Bindoon Pie Shop;
we
should be there c12.30pm. Try the special “Riley Pie”.
Bring other
food and drinks to eat outside or in your car if you wish.
After lunch
you might like to “party-on”! Although the usual
Valley Festival “Hub”
at the Village Green has been canned all wineries still have
special
events and entertainment organised. Briery Estate is close
and recommended; they have live music, art etc so we plan
to go there.
Christos Valley Estate (formerly Hartley Estate) has Greek
music,
dancing and food on and probably plate smashing, so that sounds
the go for us if we want to carry on. It?s also recommended
and
Kyotmunga Winery is opposite. Make your way home whenever
you
want. There may be a gathering to end it all at Lambie?s farm
if they
have any energy left. |

BRITISH AUTO CLASSIC
at Waroona Town Oval. This is a popular
event and we often see members from the SW there. Our new
Secretary Ivan Botica and Mourveen are conveniently moving
to
Oakford at the southern end of Tonkin Hwy. and have invited
us to
meet there first for a quick breakfast and coffee. This sounds
better
than the usual bitumen car park. We have to be in the oval
at
Waroona before 10am to get in, so it will be an early start.
More
details next month.
